5 Instagram Reels that ACTUALLY get you Followers in 2023

Are you frustrated as I am with how hard it is to grow on Instagram?

Well, I found five reels that have actually been growing my following quickly lately, and I'm super excited to share them with you.

1. Educational Reels

Educational reels are my number one driver for sales when it comes to reels.

Basically, I'll just grab my tripod and phone and record a reel that is 60 seconds or less. It will include a hook, the meat, and a call to action.

But, you don't have to fill the entire 60 seconds when making an educational reel. I've learned that if you go a bit shorter, sometimes even the really, really short reels will get a ton of views.

Educational reels simply aim to educate people. If you’re a business owner like me, you may have a list of topics you can talk about.

2. Quote Reels

The second type of reel that has actually been growing my following lately is quote reels.

Now, I was really skeptical about these just because they just seem too good to be true. And they're just so easy to create.

To make a quote reel, you just need to go into Canva and open a reel-size template. From there, you can choose a video clip that will serve as a background for the quotes. Put your quote, your name and your IG handle on it, and it’s done!

It definitely takes me the shortest amount of time to actually create a quote reel.

Note that not every single quote reel hits just like not every single reel hits.

But what I've noticed is when a quote reel hits, it can really pop off. And it has a lot of potential to go viral because they're a bit broader since it's a quote.

And lastly, it has the ability to reach and appeal to a lot of people.

Thus, quote reels have actually been really helpful for me in growing my followers lately.

3. Clip Reels

Clip reels are reels that you make out of your long-form content.

If you're making YouTube videos or if you have a podcast, you can have your virtual assistant or video editor create 60-second or less clips from your YouTube videos or podcasts, and you can repurpose them across all channels.

So not only are these good for reels, but they're also good for TikTok and they're also good for shorts.

Creating clip reels is also simple if you have VA or video editor.

This is how it works for me. I'll ask my video editor to take clips from my Youtube video that will make interesting and valuable content. Then, I’ll let my VA edit the clips, add captions, and then upload them using a social media management software called Later.

And to my surprise, we have consistently been getting a lot of views on these, specifically on Instagram. Now I don't get as many views with these on Tiktok, but I do also get a lot of views with these on shorts.

And reels have actually been the most amount of views when it comes to clipped content.

4. Collab Reels

The number one reel that has grown my following the most in the last 30 days is collab reels!

Collab reels are reels that you make in collaboration with other influencers or business owners.

You can collab on a trend or create anything. But what I've been doing lately is I actually appear as a guest on a number of podcasts every single month. And I ask the podcast host to create podcast clips, post them on reels, and add me as a collaborator. It will automatically post the reel on my Instagram channel and also their Instagram channel.

And this has been by far the number one strategy driving the most followers to my Instagram account in the last 30 days.

I think a lot of people are sleeping on these collab reels and these are huge.

So whether you are a guest on a podcast or you have a YouTube channel or you just want to collab with another creator to create a trend, I really think it is truly worth your time to do this because I've seen firsthand my account absolutely skyrocket with followers from these collab reels.

5. Trend Reels

Now, obviously, everyone knows about trend reels.

These are reels created out of a trending song on Instagram.

Essentially, you'll just use whichever song is popular on Instagram to create your own clips.

You can easily tell if a song is trending by checking for the trending arrow, but you can also simply scroll to see if a song is being used repeatedly by other users.

I will say though that they are not my number one source of gaining followers on my account, but they do still bring in a lot of reach to my account. It also brings a lot of awareness to my account, which does help in my overall strategy.

Final Thoughts

It sounds silly, but the best way to grow your Instagram is by trying different things. Try things that you think will work for you and track them if it helps bring in followers to your account.

But I know for me, I’m definitely going to be doing a lot more collab reels in the future.
